Travelers edition #3
Il Nonno Italian restaurant
So we were visiting friends, who lives in the countryside in a small village called Akasztó. We had a great time, she showed us around the village area, even took us to a delicious ice cream place, which on its own would have been a great weekend. That was until she told us that there is a new Italian restaurant down the street and we should go check it out. I thought to myself: “How good can a restaurant in a small village really be?” Spoilers: VERY!!! So thats how the idea of writing about it came to life.
Allow me to introduce you Il Nonno restaurant, which according to google translates to: The Grandfather. The place is small, homey, cozy, but gives a modern look to me at least. Our waiter was a young gentlemen, who took our orders and the drinks came right away. The menu is a two sided laminated sheet with drinks on one and meals on the other side. If I am honest, it was very hard to choose even though there is not many items on the menu, compared to other Italian places.

There is also a wide variety of drinks with alcoholic or non-alcoholic options for everyone. We chose to drink lemonades, two, around 1 liter big glass for the two couples. I believe they were passion fruit and forest fruits, spot on for us. If there is more people at one table I highly recommend ordering one of these, guaranteed it won’t last long.

Now let’s get down to everyone’s favorite (or at least mine) topic: FOOD. Three of us had pizza and one of us had pasta. I ordered Tonno/Tuna pizza, my girlfriend had the Pizza del Nonno with truffles. For the other couple, my friend took the Prosciutto cotto, his girlfriend had the Alfredo tagliatelle. All of these meals were delicious, not just some deep frozen piece of….. anyway you get my point. The dough of the pizza was light and fluffy and they put enough topping on top of it so you didn’t just eat tomato sauced pizza dough. I have no comment on the pasta, because I forgot to try it, but I can hardly imagine it would disappoint either. And luckily I did not make the same mistake as last time and took pictures of the food.

After the pizza we went to the neighbor village for some ice cream as dessert. I did not take pictures of those because it is not part of this restaurant. Who knows, I might do an other post of that in the future.
Overall we had a great experience and even my stupid head got surprised, how good of a pizza they make here. Won’t be so cocky next time my friends ask me out for a lunch. Our waiter and the staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. In my opinion the place a little bit on the pricier side, but totally worth it for the experience and the food. Sorry for shorter than usually, this is what I had in me for today.
Hope you have enjoyed this post, if so, be sure to check back again and share it with your friends and family and remember: ‘Life’s short, just enjoy it!’
